Our Why!
Over the past few months the ImagineCreate team have been sharing ideas about how we can reach more children across the country (& maybe the world!) to join in the ImagineCreate fun! Since we began ImagineCreate at the beginning of the year, we have seen lots of children develop in confidence, and their self-esteem has gone through the roof! We really believe our unique method works! It is so much fun, in a stress free, happy environment that we want EVERY child to have the opportunity to do this!
Now is the time to share it with one and all! The power of social media is ever growing so why not mix it up! ImagineCreates mathematical sum of the day is: 'Technology + Poetry + Drawing = Creative Minds!'
We will be uploading some of our poems onto our YouTube Channel for you to have a go! You can do it anywhere! At home, at school, in youth clubs... just listen to the poem and use your imagination.
To do this you will need:
1) A plain piece of paper and a pencil (leave the colouring until you have finished drawing the picture) You can download the ImagineCreate template above.
2) A rubber - its okay to rub out work if you feel you have made a mistake.
3) Something to hide your work. Try not to look at each others pictures until they are finished - The BIG REVEAL is what makes it really magical! TIP: You can hide your work behind a book! - Click here to find out more about the BIG REVEAL!
4) Time - don't rush it! Let the creativity flow!
Do's & Don'ts
GROWN UPS! Some do's & don'ts when using our magic method to make sure the participants (children & adults!) are happy and relaxed when completing their picture:
* DO make sure there are no distractions (e.g. TV OFF, except for our YouTube channel poem!)
* DO press pause after each couple of sentences to allow time to draw the pictures. This isn't a memory test!
* DO encourage participants to 'have a go', even if they are not sure how to draw it. For example; If they want to draw a stick person for a person, let them! In a positive way afterwards you can support them, and show them how to draw a 2D person afterwards. We never stop learning new skills!
* DON'T say "That's not very good" or "You could have drawn that better" - If you would like to support the participants in their artwork (which is great) share with them your picture and then compare parts of each others drawing by saying "I like this bit of your drawing because..." - Remember the aim 'To build confidence & self-esteem'
* DO, DO, DO do it TOGETHER! - As a family, with friends, teachers - with your class! This works! Everyone can have a go at drawing - and everyone interprets things in different ways! Teenagers even enjoy doing this, and it's not just for girls! So many boys have come to our workshops and have loved sharing their pictures with their friends. It's been AWESOME!
* DO share the finished pictures on our Facebook Page. We want to see your child's amazing artwork! A part of becoming a creative thinker is also sharing ideas!
* DO have FUN! Laugh, share, use positive words - Share what you like about each others pictures. Swap over pictures and play 'Can you find the...'
* DO display the pictures, or create a book of ImagineCreate drawings. What a confidence boost to see work up in the kitchen or on a display! Participants will feel amazing & valued that you think their work is special... and you know what, it is!
We really hope that you enjoy the videos and have fun with them! Please spread the word about our Channel, and please make sure you SUBSCRIBE! The more people that see it, the more confident, valued & happy people there will be! It is as simple as it sounds - but it has the power to develop creativity and imaginations in big ways!
